Camellia azalea is a very unusual camellia species. Most camellias only bloom during the fall and winter months when it is cool. Camellia azalea can bloom throughout the entire year, but it may best be described as a repeat bloomer. This image was taken in Savannah, Georgia in 2006 when the temperatures were in the upper nities for 3 straight days. The flower was not adversly affected by the heat. This species has great potential.
